In the month of December 2011 PUP Orange Walk South Standard Bearer, Abelardo Mai visited the students of Guinea Grass Government School and gave out a number of goodies bag along with Santa Clause. On that same day Mai committed himself to donate a set of jersey for the schools male and female football team. Today Mai kept his commitment and once again made the students of Guinea Grass Government School smile as he handed over the two set of jerseys.

“Last year there was this same tournament but unfortunately I was unable to provide Guinea Grass school with jerseys so I figure it was just fair enough that Guinea Grass this time receive their jerseys and the tournament that they have is a very exciting tournament, so I think it was worth the while also the fact that they were using jerseys that were really, really washed out and I believe it was unfair for them so it was time for them to get a new set of jerseys.”

And from all indications the donation was made at a right time because the school will be participating in their first football competition tomorrow as they go head to head against San Felipe Roman Catholic School.

“I think these government school doesn’t have a lot of money to do everything they want so they have to go out and do some fundraising and seek people that could help them and I think that when the teachers asked me I said certainly it is time that guinea Grass gets a little help from us and that is what we are doing.”

After handing over the uniforms Mai wish both the male and female football teams the best of luck.

“I just would like to thank Mr. Abelardo Mai because I really appreciate our jerseys for our school.”

According to Mai this is not the last time that the school will be hearing from him because another much needed donation is soon to come.
